The international Education Development in Ukraine (EDUWAP) program had its second summit in Belfast in January 2025, bringing together educational professors from Ukraine, the USA, the UK and Ireland, to assess the need for education enhancement during and after the war. The Summit was addressed by the Minister for the Economy, Conor Murphy, Belfast’s Lord Mayor, Micky Murray. The event was highlighted with a Reception at St Mary’s University College, Queen’s University, for the Ukrainian community in Northern Ireland to meet with the delegates and the Honorary Consul for Ukraine in Northern Ireland, Alan Moore, took the opportunity to address delegates and thank them for their efforts to promote educational reform within Ukraine.

University representatives from Lutsk, Kyiv and Lviv joined the gathering to discuss issues such as trauma and therapy during conflict, therapy for children and staff, student teacher’s needs, continued professional training for teachers, veterans re-entering the education system, reestablishing damaged universities and schools, and the reform of the education system. The next summit is in Lutsk in the coming months.

At this event, together with friends of Ukraine, we also created the Chain of Unity, dedicated to the Day of Unity of Ukraine.

Our unity remains our main strength in resisting russian aggression and fighting for our independence, freedom, sovereignty and territorial integrity.

We are sincerely grateful to all who continue to takes the initiative and acts, who helps Ukraine. This is very valuable, especially when the war becomes longer and takes on a global scale.

If you can contribute to improving the future in Ukraine, please do it!

Special thanks to the photographers Gerd Curley & Olga Vasilyeva for great photos.
