On 17 September 2026 Ukrainians in Northern Ireland were honoured to be invited by the Honorary Consul for Ukraine in Northern Ireland, Alan Moore OBE, to a meeting in Belfast with General Valerii Zaluzhnyi, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

The meeting brought together representatives of the Ukrainian community in Northern Ireland with senior Ukrainian and UK officials, providing an important opportunity for dialogue on matters of importance to Ukraine and Ukrainians living in Northern Ireland.

Among those attending were Chris Bryant, Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, and Andrii Madzianovskyi, Consul of Ukraine at the Consulate of Ukraine in Edinburgh.

For Ukrainians in Northern Ireland, the meeting was a valuable opportunity to represent the Ukrainian community, share experiences and perspectives from Northern Ireland, and highlight the contribution of Ukrainians to communities across the region.

The meeting also provided an opportunity to maintain and strengthen links between the Ukrainian community in Northern Ireland and Ukraine’s diplomatic representatives in the United Kingdom.

We are sincerely grateful to Alan Moore OBE, Honorary Consul for Ukraine in Northern Ireland, for the kind invitation and for his continued engagement with and support for the Ukrainian community.

It was a privilege for us to meet General Valerii Zaluzhnyi, Ambassador of Ukraine to the United Kingdom, Secretary of State for Northern Ireland Chris Bryant, and Mr Andrii Madzianovskyi, Consul of Ukraine at the Consulate of Ukraine in Edinburgh.

Ukrainians in Northern Ireland are grateful for the opportunity to represent our community at this important meeting and for the continued friendship, support and solidarity shown by the people of Northern Ireland and the United Kingdom.
