On August 24, 2023, the Ukrainian community of Northern Ireland celebrated the 32nd anniversary of Ukraine’s independence. This is a value for each of us. And we are fighting for that. And in this struggle, everyone is important. Because this is a fight for what is important to everyone. This is independent Ukraine.

On August 24th we all came together at The Jethro Center in Lurgan to feel our Strength, the Spirit and Faith. And to thank the people of Northern Ireland for their help and support!

We once again decently presented Ukrainian culture, language, traditions, customs, dances, wonderful melodious Ukrainian songs, and also treated all the guests present to delicious Ukrainian food.

Many thanks to Ukrainian women and Ukrainian men for the real masterpieces of cooking, the food was very tasty.

What has been done at the event:

– a painting with Ukrainian symbols and a map of Ukraine was presented, which was created with the support of the artist Arlene Marks Aeon from the city of Lurgan;

– a picture and a map of Ukraine, created by girls from the Ukrainian community, were shown; all visitors can see it at the entrance to Lurgan Park from the Brownlow House side;

– our friends, guests left their yellow-blue hand-prints on the created map of Ukraine, so everyone could show which region of Ukraine they are from;

– an exhibition of souvenirs was held;

– solemnly and proudly carried the flag to the national anthem of Ukraine;

– listened to the speech of the Chairman of the Ukrainians in Northern Ireland community group;

– on the same day, an ambulance was handed over from St Jones ambulance to the “Materynska Syla Ukrainy” charitable organization for further delivery and transfer to the front-line hospital, which is currently based on the territory of the central district hospital of the city of Kostyantynivka, Donetsk region;

– painting of Ukrainian symbols on the face and children’s tattoos were organized;

– a dance master class with elements of Ukrainian dance was held;

– an interesting video presentation about Ukraine filled with historical facts was presented in two languages ​​(English and Ukrainian);

– we listened to Ukrainian poems and sang Ukrainian folk songs;

– listened to a composition on the piano, performed by the beautiful Oleksandra from Volyn;

– a session of crafts for children was professionally organized and held, the children were happy;

– we showed Ukrainian culture, a Ukrainian-style photo zone was presented, so that everyone could have a good photo as a memory;

– Ukrainians met together and got to know each other, and this is so necessary for us now;

– we continued to collect funds for the most urgent humanitarian needs in Ukraine.
