On July 25, 2024, the semifinal of the UEFA European Under-19 Championship took place between the national teams of Ukraine and France in Windsor Park, Belfast.

In his capacity as the Honorary Consul for Ukraine in Northern Ireland, Alan Moore attended the match to support the Ukrainian team, joining many of the Ukrainian Community living in Northern Ireland.

A pleasant surprise was his meeting with the President of the Ukrainian Association of Football and 2004 winner of ‘The Ballon d’Or’ ( ’Golden Ball’ – the best player in Europe), Andriy Shevchenko. Following this meeting Alan Moore also was permitted to join the Ukrainian team in the dressing room after the match and took the opportunity to congratulate the Ukrainian team and their manager for their outstanding efforts in reaching the semifinals which made all of Ukraine very proud.

Prior to the match ,Alan also had a brief meeting with members of the Ukrainian community in Northern Ireland, where he expressed his sincere thanks and support for their exceptional fundraising efforts in support of humanitarian aid for Ukraine.
