Primary School:
Primary education covers three stages – Foundation Stage, Key Stage 1, and Key Stage 2.
- Foundation Stage: Reception (age 4 (optional)); grades 1-2 (ages 4-6)
- Key Stage 1 (grades 3-4, ages 6-8)
- Key Stage 2 (grades 5-7, ages 8-11)

- PE – Physical Education,
- Music,
- Art,
- Religious Education (parents can refuse the latter by written statement),
- can also be (if the school has the resources): a foreign language (French, Spanish).
At the end of Key Stage 2 (grade 7, age 11), those students who want to enrol in grammar school, take the transfer test (called SEAG (“the Schools’ Entrance Assessment Group”) : https://seagni.co.uk/ ).
